›The new RCX5 helps you conquers your triathlon
13/05/2011
SINGAPORE (13 June 2011) – Polar, the market leader and pioneer in heart rate training technology, has launched a product to suit the desired needs of multisport and triathlon athletes – the Polar RCX5 training computer. A cutting-edge product ideal for endurance sports, the RCX5 comes with a range of exciting new features to coach you in planning, training and analyzing your performance in detail.
Knowing how hard to train can be a challenge as your condition changes every day depending on a number of factors, including your physical and mental state, stress, sleep, weather and previous training. The brand new ZoneOptimizer feature takes out the guesswork by adjusting your personal heart rate zones for every training session based on your current physiological condition. It will guide you to train at the right intensity to get the training effect you want, making your every session more effective.
The perfect feature for controlling your speed, Race Pace allows you to set a target time for a certain distance. It then helps you pace your run or ride by showing your current speed/pace and by telling in time, how much you are ahead or behind the set target.
Sport Profiles are essential for multisport and triathlon athletes, enabling a quick switch between sports during training. With just a few button pressed, this feature adjusts your training computer’s settings to the sport you are doing.
General Manager from Polar Singapore, Adrian Mok said, “RCX5 comes with easy navigation for triathletes to switch between swim, bike, run profiles while the wrist units picks up previously paired sensors instantly!” In this way, athletes would not lose precious time while meddling with the buttons nor lose any data in transition. In addition to the default sports profiles, more can be customized with Polar WebSync software.
New sensors are featured in this new launch: The G5 GPS sensor and an s3+ stride sensor. The extremely small G5 GPS sensor (34g) measures speed/pace and distance and allows you to see your route on the new map view at polarpersonaltrainer.com. There you can review all your training data at any point of your route. Light to wear in soft and flexible armband (26g), G5 comes with 18-hour battery life and can be recharged via mini USB.
The s3+ comes with a new, firm shoe attachment which guarantees more accurate speed/pace and distance measurement. This lightweight sensor (23g) is shock and water resistant, handling even the most demanding runs. With running cadence and average stride length, s3+ can help you improve your running technique. RCX5 can also calculate your Running Index, which scores your run. On the saddle, you can get your speed, distance and cadence measured by adding Polar cycling sensors using W.I.N.D. technology.
The RCX5 gives heart rate even in water with a comfortable and disturbance-free WearLink®+ Hybrid transmitter. Transferring data both in 5 kHz and 2.4 GHz, WearLink®+ Hybrid ensures that your heart rate signal is found at all times.
There have been some major upgrades at polarpersonaltrainer.com web service to support multisport athletes. You can now create personalized training programs, including warm-up, workout and cool-down phases for each session. The training programs can be easily synched to your RCX5 via the DataLink data transfer unit. After each session, the online training diary makes it easy to track your progress and compare planned versus actual training sessions.
In addition, the Training Load feature can now be seen as a graph, showing your cumulative training load in color coding. The easy-to-understand graph tells you when you will have recovered enough for your next session and accurately predicts how your cumulative training load will develop based on your training plan. This will prevent you from over training and enable you to tailor your training sessions accordingly.
“The RCX5 keeps up with you in the water, on the saddle, on your run, and online”, said Joona Laukka, Cycling, Running & Multisport Segment Manager for Polar Electro Oy. “A true multisport product, it features Sport Profiles which give you sport-specific training data. What’s more, a whole load of features is packed into a slim functional design with sporty looks.”
The RCX5 will be available in smart black, and comes in four unique product packaging with different sensors. The basic set consist of the RCX5 training computer, the WearLink®+ Hybrid transmitter, the DataLink data transfer unit, and a Getting Started Guide. For runners, there is a product set with the s3+ stride sensor and cyclists can purchase a set with the CS speed sensor W.I.N.D. The multisport set comes with the new G5 GPS sensor. All these sets are now available at Polar authorized retail shops.
No matter which product set you get, you can top it up with compatible sensors at a later stage. All sensors can be purchased separately as accessories. The RCX5 is also compatible with the older G3 GPS sensor W.I.N.D. and the s3 stride sensor W.I.N.D. So if you want to upgrade your training computer, you don’t have to buy new sensors to enjoy the sport you love.
